«An amazing country full of contrasts, and a welcoming Tibetan people known for their kindness and respect.»

Raquel Cabadas
GAES Cuenca – Dharamsala (India), in collaboration with the Casa del Tíbet

On March 15, 2019, along with my two colleagues Silvia and Sandra, and through Fundación GAES Solidaria, we began one of the most meaningful personal and professional experiences of our lives—continuing the Oídos del Tíbet project in Dharamsala, India.

A spectacular country, full of contrasts, and a warm and welcoming Tibetan community, marked by kindness and respect, as well as deep gratitude toward us volunteers who traveled there to help solve hearing problems—fitting and reviewing hearing aids for more than a hundred people, both children and adults.

I will always be grateful to GAES Solidaria for giving us the opportunity to work directly with the Tibetan people and to get closer to their culture; and to the Tibetan community for the intensity with which we lived each day—learning and reinforcing values—and for giving us the opportunity to personally meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
