Volunteering as a hearing aid specialist in Gambia was truly a gift for me. The opportunity to share this incredible experience alongside the amazing team from Fundación Clarós has no comparison to any experience I’ve had before.
During our days at Serrakunda Hospital, we cared for many people—children, youth, adults, and the elderly—with various conditions and needs. When possible, the medical team provided treatment, and others were fitted with hearing aids by us. The gratitude, smiles, and affection we received were overwhelming.
In my suitcase, I didn’t just bring back learning and emotion—I also brought back respect, admiration, and friendship. I am and always will be grateful for this gift I’ve been given. And even though I’m writing this from home, a little piece of my heart remains in Banjul, Gambia.
