«Being able to take part in this GAES Solidaria initiative, sharing moments of true joy with the children, and witnessing the great teamwork we built in action, made my heart feel a festival of emotions that is hard to put into words.»

GAES Sarria – Marrakech, Dar Bouidar Project
During the first weekend of February 2019, I had the great opportunity to be part of one of the many solidarity actions carried out by Fundación GAES Solidaria—this time in Marrakech.
The objective: Dar Bouidar, located just a few kilometers from Marrakech—a refuge for abandoned children where they are given a home, education, care, and love. What we found there far exceeded our expectations.
Our mission was to improve the hearing health of all the children by performing checkups, audiometries, and, when necessary, fittings.
The experience was wonderful in every sense. Both the children and the adults running the center welcomed us with open arms.
From the very first minute, I felt a strong connection with the entire team. We worked intensely, with complete efficiency and coordination. Without a doubt, it has been one of the most intense and rewarding experiences of my life.
Dar Bouidar is still a young project—it opened in 2015—and there's still a lot to be done. But perhaps that’s precisely why we felt like part of something big just beginning. Being able to participate in this GAES Solidaria initiative, share moments of true joy with the children and adults we assisted—including teenagers who had never heard properly until that day—and see our fantastic team in action, made my heart feel a festival of emotions that’s hard to explain.
I’ve been a GAES Solidaria volunteer for many years and, although I’ve taken part in local actions, I had never had the chance to participate beyond our borders. This experience has undoubtedly helped me grow as a person, and I thank GAES Solidaria a thousand times over for the amazing opportunity.
A thousand thanks!!
